Becker, Kelly Help Mass. Youth Rugby Team Win Championship

The L-S junior and sophomore were selected to play in the New England Challenge Cup.

Two Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School students — junior Bryan Becker and sophomore Miles Kelly — were selected by Mass. Youth Rugby Organization (MYRO) to play for the State's U17 rugby squad.

On June 16, the Massachusetts team took on Connecticut and won the New England Challenge Cup Championship by a score of 57-7. Becker, the L-S captain, was a starting wing and scored Massachusetts' first try in route to the victory. Kelly made significant contributions in the game also at the wing position.

Rugby is one of the most popular sports in the world as exhibited by the Rugby World Cup which is one of the largest international sporting events in the world, surpassed in scale only by the FIFA World Cup, the Olympics, and the Tour de France. 7 side rugby will become an official Olympic sport in 2016. Its popularity is on the rise in the US and is becoming more common place with televised events such as the college 7's championship.

Lincoln-Sudbury has a competitive rugby team and welcomes players with and without experience.
