New Dating Site Connects Bernie Sanders Supporters

With a groundswell of support, the grassroots movement for Bernie Sanders has a strong social media presence. There is no shortage of connecting on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram for those chanting “Sanders strong”.

But what about romance bonded by political bend? Those who support Sanders and who are also looking to meet new people now have a like-minded dating pool they can dip their feet into - a place to find someone with whom they can discuss income inequality, minimum wage, and corporate greed over appetizers and wine. And if that leads to a kiss and a second date, well, election time!

Trending heavily on Facebook, Twitter and Reddit, the new site berniesingles.com wasn’t able to keep up with the server demand, and is asking people to hang on while it is upgraded, and to like the new site on Facebook. Site owners said that it had received 1,000 members in less than an hour.

“We have our team working nonstop,” says the message on the site. “You can donate to get us online faster.”

The Facebook page notes that the site should be back up by 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
