Sudbury Does Have Long Range Planning

Sudbury long-range planning is alive and well.

In the words of John C. Maxwell, “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.”

The town of Sudbury Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, & Conservation Commission all have long-range plans and are not and never have been passive in implementing them. There is a Master Plan, an Open Space and Recreation Plan and a Housing Production Plan, all of which are available for review on the town website.

The Housing Production Plan was certified on August 9th, 2011 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Housing and Community Development. It took a lot of work by a lot of dedicated individuals to get this certified, but the net result is that the Town of Sudbury was granted a  Safe Harbor (moratorium) from 40B developments which extends until July 31, 2014. In this plan there are a range of strategies that the town can use to meet the 40B threshold. No one “magic bullet” is the answer.
