Time to Get Ready for Town Meeting

With town meeting approaching, it is time to start learning about the various articles to be presented so we can all make informed decisions.

As part of the response to Dan DePompei’s call for a semi-annual state of the town update,  the selectmen are holding pre-town meeting discussions on various articles. Below is a list of all the articles for town meeting referenced from the minutes of the Feb 26 selectmen’s meeting.

There are three key meetings for review of the articles. Last week, FINCOM and both school committee’s reviewed the Strategic Financial Report and discussed articles 3,10,19,22 & 23. SudburyTV should have a replay of this available soon and the town manager said the report would be available on the town's website.

On April 9th, the selectmen will review Zoning Articles 25 – 30 and CPA Articles 31 – 37.  On April 23rd, the BOS will review Articles 16 – 21 & 24. In addition, the citizen petitioners for Articles 39 - 43 have been invited to present.

The format for all meetings is a brief 3 – 5 minute overview of each article by the proponent followed by public Q&A. The start time both evenings is 8PM.

In addition, on April 9th, the Selectmen are scheduled to discuss the renewal of the town counsels contract. This discussion appears to have been prompted by FINCOM Member Bob Stein questioning the procedure the BOS used to hire town counsel.

Also slated for April 9th is the discussion around scheduling the special election for the two additional selectmen now that 3-5 overwhelmingly passed, again.
