Cardinals 18, Padres 14
The Cardinals outlasted the Padres, 18-14. For the Padres, Aidan Rogers had a strong game pitching three innings and contributing three hits including a double. Justin DiPietro, Will Jarrell, who hit a long double that bounced off the outfield fence, Tyler Durkin and Taylor Bahn also chipped with two hits each. For the Cardinals, pitcher Adam Bradford was working the strike zone in the first two innings. Offensively, Cardinals’ Connor Lachman was 3-for-3; Thomas Griffin was 2-for-3; and Charlie Cavanaugh was 3-for-4. All three players had doubles.

Brewers 10, Orioles 4

The Brewers defeated the Orioles, 10-4, on the strength of pitchers Dom Garzone (3 IP, 1 hit, 6 Ks) and Joseph Akisik (3 IP, 4 Ks). The Brewers' offensive attack was led by two-hit plate appearances from Matt Allor (2B, RBI), Alex Cannon (3B, RS) and Jimmy O'Connor (2 RS RBI). Ryan Immerman (2B, RBI), Robert Macnamara (RBI), Akisik (RBI) and Garzone also added hits. Defensively, Jason Mead made a key play at second base to squash an Orioles rally. Offensively, the Orioles were led by Jacob Pentz (1B, RBI, RS), Milind Lele (1B, RS), Lucas Allen (1B), and Ben Ohler (RS). On the mound, the Orioles got a good start from Ben Kateman (2 IP, 2 Ks), and relief from Lucas Allen (IP, 2 K), Jamie Sampson-Lizotte (IP), and Anil Lele (IP). Defensivley, Kateman had an assist and two put-outs, Anil Lele had two assists and a put-out, and Jack Fletcher had two put-outs.
White Sox 10, Angels 7
The White Sox defeated the Angels 10-7. William Stone had a strong game offensive with two hits, scored two runs and pitched 1 ⅓ innings recording four strikeouts. Jack Ginand also had two hits and pitched a strong 1⅔ innings. Matt Joachim played well behind the plate, catching a key popup, and also pitched one strong inning and had three strikeouts. David Andrysiak closed the game in relief, pitching two innings and giving up just one run. The Angels were led by solid pitching efforts from Brett Parker who recorded five strikeouts over three innings and Joey Caloiero struck out four in 1 ⅓ innings. The Angels’ offense was led by Ryan Cullen (1B, 2 2B, RBI), Davis Donley (1B, 2B, 2 RBIs) and Liam McCarthy (2 1B, 2 RS, RBI). Defensively, Kyle Hammond made a nice play in the outfield to keep the game close.
Giants 8, Pirates 7
The Giants erased a four-run deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning to come from behind and defeat the Pirates, 8-7 in a walk-off victory. Teddy Durant (1B, 2 RBIs) had the game-winning hit with a base-clearing, two-run single. With one out and trailing by four, Giants’ Nicholas Mitchell (1B, BB, 2 RS) singled, Kyle Smith (2 BB, RS) walked. Pirates pitching induced the second out, but Jason Lyons (2 RS, 2 RBIs) reached base and drove in two runs. Luke Geel (BB, RS) drew a base on balls and Emmet Klein (1B, RS, RBI) slapped a single to drive in Lyons from second and cut the Pirates lead to 7-6. Durant followed and swung on a 3-0 pitch for his game-winning hit. Also contributing to the Giants offense were Benny Smart (1B) and Ippolit Matjucha who reached base safely and scored a run. The Giants received great pitching from Lyons (2 IP, 2 Ks) Klein (2 IP, K) and Geel (2 IP, 2 Ks). Matjucha had a nice catch in centerfield, and the defensive workhorse Mitchell (6 put outs, 2 assists, CS) made a nice play to Lyons at home to cut down a baserunner at home plate on an attempted steal. The Pirates had a well-balanced offensive attack as Jesse Sun (1B, 2B), Andrew Brown (2 1B, HBP), Kevin Ewing (1B, 2B), Nicholas Bettenhauser (1B), Shane George (1B), Adam Howard (1B), James Dillon (1B, HR, RBI, BB) and Henry Warzecha (BB) all made important contributions. Jayden Courmier's defense was key in stopping several Giants’ rallies including a nice spinning back-handed tag on a baserunner. James Dillon, Andrew Brown and Alec Keilen all had solid outings on the mound.
Phillies 8, Cubs 7
The Phillies scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to notch an 8-7 come-from-behind victory over the Cubs. Down 6-2, the Phillies sent 11 players to the plate and its comeback rally ignited by back to back home runs by Matt Cunningham (2 RBIs) and a solo shot by Jack Garrity. Jack Gray had a run-scoring base hit; Sam Gray (1B, RBI) scored a run; and Wilson Sneath (2B) and Jack Urdang (1B, RBI) also scored runs in the inning. Phillies’ relief pitcher Jack Gray (IP, 2 Ks, ER) fought off a fierce Cubs rally in the bottom of the sixth when the Cubs had runners at first and second with two out. Phillies’ third baseman Ethan Sussman snagged a hard hit ground ball and stepped on the bag for the unassisted force out to end the game. David Rowe (2-3, 2 1B, RS), Colby Cataldo (RS), Brendan Kelleher (RBI) and Sussman all reached base safely. Urdang started the game for the Phillies, pitched three innings, had nine strikeouts and gave up just two runs on five hits. Kelleher pitched two innings, holding the Cubs scoreless in the fourth. For the Cubs, Thomas Palmer pitched three innings of no-hit ball and had six strikeouts. He allowed only two baserunners. Eight Cubs’ players reached base safely: Andrew Cahill (3-4, 2 1B, 3B, RBI 2 RS), Max Solomon (4-for-4, 3 1B, 2B, RBI, 2 RS), Jack Reading (1B, 2B, RBI, RS) Thomas Palmer (1B, RBI, RS), Jake Mackenzi (2B, RBI), Brendan Meehan (1B, 2 RBIs), Magnus Magnusson (BB) and Jack Bull (BB). Defensively, right fielder Charlie Murphy, second baseman Bull and first baseman Mackenzi executed a perfect 9-4-3-4 to nab a Phillies’ baserunner after he tried to stretch a long single into a double and was caught in a pickle between first and second base and tagged out by Bull. The Cubs scored runs in the first and third on Max Solomon’s (2 1B, 2B, RBI) right-field double and a run-scoring base hit by Thomas Palmer (1B, RBI). Jack Reading’s run-scoring base hit in the third scored Andrew Cahill (1B).
Indians 5, Astros 2
Parks Marilla’s game-winning base hit in the sixth inning drove in two runs to give the Indians a 5-2 victory over the Astros. Superb pitching performances by Nico Andolina (3 IP, 2 runs, 3Ks, 4 hits) and Jack Hankey (3 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit, 2 Ks) were key to the Indians’ win. Hankey’s defensive plays – snagging two hard-hit lines drives on the mound also helped his team. David Lifson, Stephen Kossuth, Lars Hjerpe each banged out two hits, and Hankey (1B, RBI) all led the Indians’ offense. Ben Fasciano, Andolina, and Andrew Sanderson added hits. Lifson made a couple of nice defensive plays. The Astros made great plays defensively and relied on strong pitching from Justin Lombardi (3 IP), Jackson Bleakley (2 IP), and Jack Carter (IP). Michael Hulen turned a solo double play at first base. Jake Titus combined with Lombardi to cut off an Indians’ baserunner at second base. Offensively, Nick Carter’s hard-hit single scored Hulen (1B) for one of the two Astros’ runs and a base hit by Titus (1B, 2B) and Jack Carter’s heads-up baserunning from third base to home put up run number two for the Astros. George Curry and Sean Carney each had base hits for the Astros.
Padres 15, Mets 4
The Padres jumped out to an early 10-run lead and defeated the Mets, 15-4, behind a complete team effort. Pitchers Michael McKinnon (2 IP, 0 runs), Sam Winneg (2 IP, 3 Ks), and Abby Volo (2 IP, 3 Ks) provide strength on the mound for the Padres. Tyler Durkin had three assists in the field. The Padres’ offense was led by Volo who knocked out three hits including a double, Charlie Desmarais added a double and scored three times, Taylor Bahn and Durkin each had two base hits and Griffin Brown scored twice. The Mets’ offense was led by Lucas Lisman (2B, HR, RS, RBI), Andrew Guerra (2 1B, RS) and Alex Kelly (1B, 3B, RS). Pitchers Nick Emerson, Drew Teitelbaum, Jonah Krasnow and Stuart Lustig combined for nine strikeouts. Guerra, Lisman and Josh Jacobson shared catching duties and all had defensive assists from behind the plate to keep the game competitive.

Brewers 7, Cubs 6
Jimmy O’Connor’s game-winning base hit in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Dom Garzone from third to give the Brewers a dramatic come-from-behind 7-6 victory over the Cubs. Down 6-4 with two outs, Jason Mead singled, Peter Cannon drew a walk and Garzone cleared the bases with a two-run double to left-center to tie the game at 6-6 and set the stage for O’Connor. The Brewers were held scoreless for the first three innings on the strength of Cubs’ starters Charlie Murphy, who pitched two innings and gave up just one hit; and Jack Reading, who pitched two innings and allowed just one run on two hits. The Cubs took a 6-1 lead into the fifth inning, but back to back doubles by Ryan Immerman (and O’Connor (2 RBIs, RS) and a base hit by Robert Macnamara (RBI) in the bottom half of that inning helped the Brewers cut the Cubs’ lead to 6-4. Matt Allor reached base on a walk; Joseph Akisik and Jason Mead (RS) each had a base hit and Peter Cannon reached base and scored a run. Brewers’ first baseman Alex Cannon (1B, RS) made a great catch in foul territory on a high pop fly. The Brewers received all-around strong pitching from Alex Cannon (2 IP, 3 Ks), O’Connor (2 IP, no hits, 4 Ks) and Allor (2 IP, 2 Ks). Daniel Guzi made a nice play at first base. For the Cubs, catcher Brendan Meehan, who drove in a run with a triple, made a defensive gem of a play with a tough, falling-down catch of a high pop fly ball in the bottom of the second inning. Centerfielder Thomas Palmer (2B, 2 RS) threw a perfect strike to second baseman Jack Bull (1B, RBI) to cut down a Brewers’ baserunner trying to stretch a single into a double. Relief pitcher Andrew Cahill fielded a hard-hit ball at the pitchers’ mound, throwing to Max Solomon at first for the out. Magnus Magnusson made a good stop at third base to keep a ball in the infield; Reading made a great play at shortstop, knocking down a well-hit ball and recovering to make the out at first. Jack Bull had an assist in a put out at second base and Jake Mackenzi made a nice catch in right field. Liam Shaughnessy played well defensively for the Cubs.
Indians 8, Pirates 4
The Indians defeated the Pirates 8-4 in a well-played game by both teams. The Indians received great pitching from Ben Fasciano, Alec Zaccardo, and Drew Nobile. Starter Fasciano tossed three strong innings giving up just one run on three hits and struck out six batters. Zaccardo pitched the next two innings of solid middle relief and had four strikeouts. Nobile closed out the game with a scoreless sixth inning. Indians’ defense was stellar with Andrew Sanderson, David Lifson, and Jack Hankey making standout plays. The offense included timely hitting and smart base running with key contributions by Nobile (1B, 2B, 2 RS), Sanderson (1B, 2 RS), Zaccardo (1B, RS), TJ Hall (RS), Fasciano (1B, RBI, RS), Lars Hjerpe (1B, RS), Stephen Kossuth (1B, RS, RBI), and Lifson (1B, 2 SB). James Dillon (1B, HR, BB), Andrew Brown (1B), James Ewing (1B) and Shane George (1B) led the offense for the Pirates with solid hitting. Nicholas Bettenhauser (3 IP, 4 Ks) and Kevin Ewing handled the pitching and both had solid outings. Ewing helped himself defensively by making several nice grabs of sharply hit balls while on the mound. Andrew Brown made a spectacular twisting, one-handed grab in right field in the fifth inning. Adam Howard also chipped in with a nice running grab of a fly ball in left field.
Orioles 8, Angels 7
The Orioles held on for a hard-fought 8-7 victory over the Angels. Offensively, the Orioles were led by Milind Lele (1B, 2 3B, 3 RS), Jack Fletcher (1B, 2B, 3B, 3 RBIs, RS), Ben Kateman (1B, 2B, RBI, RS), Ben Ohler (2 1B, 2 RS, RBI), Lucas Allen (2 1B), and David Marchand (1B, RBI, BB). On the mound, Milind Lele (2 IP, 5 Ks, 2 R), Fletcher (IP, 3K), and Jacob Pentz (3IP, 2K) all had good outings. Defensive stand-outs were Ben Ohler (3 put-outs), Ben Kateman (2 put-outs), and Jacob Pentz (2 assists). Catcher Jamie Lizotte-Sampson threw a perfect strike to third baseman Marchand to nab an Angels’ baserunner on an attempted steal and end an Angels’ rally to help preserve the victory. The Angels received good pitching from Brendan Walsh (3 IP, 45 PC, 0 ER, 3 Ks) and Kyle Hammond (2 IP, 1 ER). Offensively, Liam McCarthy (1B, HR, 2 RBIs, 2 RS) and Ryan Mulcahey (2B, BB, RS) were solid and also contributed defensively, sharing catching duties for the Angels.
White Sox 8, Giants 1
The White Sox defeated the Giants, 8-1 behind the strength of solid team defense. Liam Huston made two nice catches in left field and Matt Becker made a tumbling catch of a fly ball also in left field. Pitchers Ryan Richards (2 IP, K, 0 ER), John Dale (1⅔ IP, 3 Ks, 0 ERs) and Will Dale (2⅔ IP, 3 Ks, ER) allowed only two baserunners. On offense, Haydn Herrema was 2-for-3 and Will Dale knocked in three runs. The Giants’ bats were powered by Kyle Smith (1B, 2B, RS), Teddy Durant (3B), and singles from Nicholas Mitchell, Jason Lyons and Ippolit Matjucha. Sam Anderson and Emmet Klein each reached base safely. Giants’ pitchers Smith (3 IP, 4 Ks), Mitchell & Matjucha (K) performed well. Catcher Durant turned in the Giants’ defensive gem of the game tagging out a White Sox baserunner on an attempted steal at home plate.
