What to do with those OLD VHS, Super 8 and other old Media Formats

If you have important family events on VHS or other old media its time to convert them to digital format.

I worked in the archives at my college while in grad school. They had climate controlled rooms for photos, old recordings and other media that degrade over time. Most people don't have that luxury. If you have a ton of important family events on VHS or old media its time to convert them to digital format before the original format degrades or you can't find the equipment needed to make the transfer.

One of the easiest ways to do this is to get an analog to digital converter like Grass Valley's ADVC110 Converters and do it yourself.   http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/349146-REG/Grass_Valley_602029_ADV...

You can also hire someone to do the transfers for you. They will generally convert it to digital format and provide you with a DVD copy as well.

Don't let those old memories disappear forever due to heat/water damage etc. If you have any questions about analog to digital conversion feel free to shoot me an email @ cliff@sudburytv.org
