You Can’t Have Too Much Electrical Service
Never have we heard a homeowner complain there were too many outlets in the kitchen — or anywhere else, for that matter. But in a kitchen the difference between getting the meal out warm or cold can sometimes hinge on having enough places to plug in the numerous appliances that seem to be “required equipment” for recipes these days. Blenders, mixers, grinders, and processors all should have their own receptacle — to say nothing of microwaves, coffee makers, bread machines and toasters. If too many receptacles might clutter up the kitchen wall, consider having them installed under the counter.
Some home chefs like to watch television while working — or even follow along with a cooking program. In addition to requiring yet another outlet, consider running cable for the TV inside the appropriate wall. A lot of people use a computer linked to the internet to access recipes; don’t forget you might want to plug that in, as well. A qualified electrician can install data lines at the same time as television cable.

Other great additions to almost any room include ceiling fans, recessed lighting, or even dedicated behind-the-wall wiring for music. Modern surround sound entertainment systems benefit from locating speakers all around the viewer; an electrician can install the wires neatly out of sight.
Electrical Contractors Also Work Outdoors

When you’ve already got the walls open for a remodel, think about what’s on the other side of that wall as well: the great outdoors. Electricians can help plan and install home security systems, or on a more basic level they can put in outdoor lighting to make the area around your home that much safer.
If the wall backs up to an outdoor patio, or any space where you and your family spend time, consider adding specialty electrical fixtures designed for outdoor use — equipped with a ground fault interrupter for safety. And we’re not just talking about spotlights, or a bright light over the grill; remember, a weatherproof outlet or two on the outside of the house can be handy for everything from electric trimmers to pumps for inflatable pools — or even holiday lights, with a switch controlling the outlet installed at some convenient indoor location.
Finally, if you spend time outside and still want to enjoy your music, consider having an electrician bring the speaker wiring outside, too — there are weatherproof speakers that complement any outdoor decor, and some that are designed into flowerpots and “rocks” that won’t be noticed at all.
