Brine's Sporting Goods Tabbed as the Place to Buy Baseball Equipment

In our latest Best of Patch Readers' Choice poll, we asked residents to vote for the best business in town to purchase baseball equipment. And when the poll closed today at 9 a.m, Sudbury chose Brine's over Olympia Sports with 85 percent of the vote.

According to its website, Brine's Sporting Goods is America's oldest family owned sporting goods store, first established in 1867.

The first James F. Brine, Inc. sporting goods store opened in Cambridge in 1867. Six generations later, the Brines still own and operate the stores.  The legal business name is still James F. Brine, Inc., but most customers know it as Brine's Sporting Goods. There have three locations in Concord, Sudbury, and Belmont. It has been recognized as the oldest sporting goods store in the country.
