DK BASEBALL CLINICS ANNOUNCES NATIONAL LEGACY EDITION HONOREE LE#021:
TYLER RENE CYR
A Coast –to– Coast Tribute to a Young Man Whose Life Continues to Lift the Spirit of American Baseball
Sudbury, Massachusetts • June 2026
DK Baseball Clinics announces Tyler Cyr as the Legacy Edition Tribute Bat Honoree for LE#021, a national recognition reserved for individuals whose lives elevate the character of the game and the communities it touches. Tyler’s story—rooted in courage, kindness, humor, and devotion—now joins the Legacy Edition’s coast‑to‑coast lineage of honorees whose impact transcends their years.
A National Story of Character, Heart, and the American Game
Across the country, baseball remains one of America’s most enduring teachers—shaping young people through teamwork, resilience, and shared purpose. Tyler Cyr embodied all this.
A natural catcher and two‑time All‑Star in both Framingham and Sudbury, Tyler played the game with a generosity of spirit that left a mark on every teammate and coach he encountered. His mother, Kelly Jo, remembered him as “that one kid cheering everyone on… the first to shake a hand, the first to say, ‘better luck next time.’”
His encouragement was instinctive not performative, a true reflection of who he was.
Tyler’s smile became part of his legacy. “He had an infectious smile… he could find a rainbow anywhere,” his mother shared. That smile, that spark, and that sense of joy became a source of strength for others, even during his own battle with leukemia.
A Legacy That Reaches Beyond the Field
Tyler’s influence extended far beyond the diamond. As a youth counselor, he became the counselor every child asked for by name. He played ball with them, crawled through the indoor play structure with them, and sat on the floor to play dolls with the little girls. His director still keeps his Yankees hat and job application displayed in her office—a quiet tribute to a young man who made others feel seen.
As a brother, Tyler was protective, loyal, and deeply connected. As a friend, he was unforgettable. One of his closest friends later named his son Jackson Tyler in his honor—a testament to the depth of his impact.
Tyler passed away unexpectedly at age 15 from a sudden infection although cancer‑free, his influence did not fade. His community adopted the phrase “Forever 15,” signifying the age at which his earthly journey paused while his legacy continued to grow.
A Tribute Led by Those Who Revere Tyler's Legacy
DKBC National Advisor Carole Ann Baer, a longtime family friend and the individual who first recommended Tyler for Legacy Edition consideration, will serve as the official Team Liaison for June’s Tribute Bat Presentation. Reflecting on Tyler’s legacy, Baer shared:
“Tyler had a way of lifting people simply by being himself. His kindness, his humor, and his love for the game left an imprint on everyone who knew him. Honoring him through the Legacy Edition Program ensures that his light continues to guide others. Tyler will always be remembered for the joy he brought to this community and the example he set for all of us. Tyler will always live in our hearts, as the memory of a young boy who touched us all. May he still continue to shine his precious light to others from Heaven. Forever 15.”
Coach Scott McGavick reflected upon Tyler’s influence with his baseball team and friends:
“Tyler Cyr created a significant impact on Sudbury youth baseball both with his presence and his absence. He played the game the right way, and his personality and friendship inspired his teammates to two summer championships in the wake of his tragic passing. His legacy has spanned a generation of Sudbury youth, and he will be celebrated in June.
Legacy Edition Tribute Bat Program National Director Wes Hazlett added:
“Tyler’s legacy is one our team cannot help but share with America, and the spirit of baseball is better because of the impact he made through the game. DKBC will continue to honor the legacy of Tyler Cyr after this event.”
A National Milestone in the 2026 Legacy Edition Series
LE#021 is the third of four Legacy Edition Tribute Bat presentations planned by DKBC in 2026, This initiative continues the program’s national mission to honor individuals whose lives elevate the American baseball experience through their character, leadership and love of the game.
The Legacy Edition Tribute Bat Presentation will take place on June 14, 2026, at Upper Featherland Field, in Sudbury, Massachusetts, where Tyler once played, competed, inspired, and encouraged his fellow teammates. This ceremony stands not only as a remembrance of his life, but as a national acknowledgment of the lives he continues to touch.
Tyler Cyr remains, in every sense, Forever 15.
