Come learn about the fascinating monarch butterfly at a Storytime at Wolbach Farm with a special up-close look at live caterpillars after the story! SVT volunteer Maureen DeJong will read Winged Wonders: Solving the Monarch Migration Mystery written by Meeg Pincus and illustrated by Yas Imamura. This is a delightful book that tells the story about how it was discovered that monarch butterflies winter in Mexico.
After the story we’ll hear from SVT volunteer Elke Jahns-Harms who has gotten to know these magical creatures well while raising and releasing over 100 of them. Elke will show and tell about her display of live caterpillars sharing fun informational resources for kids and adults. Bring your questions!
If there is time after the program families are welcome to enjoy the grounds of Wolbach Farm and look at butterflies and other winged creatures that flit about the pollinator meadow and Founders’ Garden.
