“The roadways were not built or meant for the amount of increasing traffic,” said Chief Nix. “They are small, winding roads that cut through. We get continuing complaints from residents and try to address them the best we can, but you only have such manpower.”

Chief Nix said the traffic and roads issue creates numerous violations, such as speeding and dangerous driving, that sometimes results in accidents.
“When we had the center project here and we were trying to time the lights properly, you’d get backups with drivers seeking cut throughs,” said Chief Nix. “We can’t tell people they can’t drive on a public way, but drive more appropriately. We ask that people drive as if it’s your own neighborhood, They complain about their own neighborhood but don’t apply it to others. You have to apply to yourself what you expect of others.”
