Congresswoman Katherine Clark Leads Boston Rally for Action Against Gun Violence

A week after Democrats' sit-in on the House floor, Clark joins leaders at the State House to further demand action.

MASSACHUSETTS—One week after Congresswoman Katherine Clark helped organize a sit-in on the floor of the U.S. House to demand a vote on gun control legislation, Clark is teaming up with local leaders to further demand action.

On Thursday, June 30, at noon, Clark will join Massachusetts legislative leaders, local mayors, and advocates to push for gun violence prevention measures on the steps of the State House in Boston.

As part of the Day of Action on Gun Violence, Clark joins Senate President Stan Rosenberg, Speaker Robert DeLeo, Attorney General Maura Healey, Congressman Joseph Kennedy and Sheriff Steven Tompkins. Representatives from gun safety organizations will also be in attendance.

On June 22, Congresswoman Clark, Congressman John Lewis and a group of Democratic members of Congress staged a sit-in on the floor of the House of Representatives. Democrats are demanding that Speaker Paul Ryan debate and vote on gun violence legislation, including universal background checks and preventing gun sales to terrorists those on federal agencies' terrorist watch lists.

Ryan adjourned the House on June 23 about 15 hours into the sit-in, without taking up Democrats' proposal.
