Easter at Memorial Congregational Church
On Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome at MCC. MCC members and visitors, infants, toddlers, teens, parents, senior citizens, hearing- and sight-impaired, athletes, musicians, and anyone else who wishes recognize the Last Supper, Jesus Christ’s supreme sacrifice, and finally His glorious resurrection on Easter Day are welcome!
Easter Day, Sunday, April 24, begins with a sunrise service on Easter morning, to be held at the home of Jim and Bobbi Fisher at 16 Concord Rd in Sudbury. The service offers a chilly, but peaceful and rewarding start of the day when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Christ. A breakfast is served in Ames Hall in the MCC building following the service. For information on attending the sunrise service, please contact the church by phone or by email at office@mccsudbury.org.

Diaconate chair and Lay Leader Dan Pettengill welcomes all worshippers in the regular service on Easter morning at 10:00 AM. Rev. Tom O’Brien brings the scripture from the book of Matthew, Chapter 28, Verses 1-10, the story of the visit by Mary Magdalene and Mary to the tomb where He was laid. An angel appears, and then Jesus himself addresses them, saying: “Be not afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see me.” O’Brien’s sermon is titled “God’s Hallelujah”. O’Brien elaborates: “My meditation explores what it means to be an ‘Easter Christian’ -- to live in the joy of the resurrection and to realize that God's abundant love is everywhere. We are excited that God conquers death with Christ's resurrection and God is just as overjoyed that we are alive and called to be co-creators with God.” The reading for children, read by an MCC child, is The Empty Tomb from the Spark Story Bible.
The Sudbury Bell Ringers, directed by Sudbury resident Betty Drum, will perform Crown Him Lord of All by Lloyd Larson. The MCC Gospel Choir, directed by Sudbury resident and Hudson music educator Jeannette McLellan will sing Ezekiel Saw the Wheel in an arrangement by Kirby Shaw. The MCC Senior Choir sings Cynthia Dobrinski’s arrangement of I Know that My Redeemer Lives. The service will conclude with the splendid recognition of Christ’s resurrection as the congregation joins together to sing the "Hallelujah Chorus" from The Messiah by Georg Frederic Handel.
