Good Friday Ecumenical Service

The Sudbury Clergy Association, representing the town’s houses of worship, will hold its annual ecumenical Good Friday service at the Martha Mary Chapel.  The chapel is on the grounds of Longfellow's Wayside Inn, 72 Wayside Inn Road in Sudbury.

Three Highlights

All are welcome as clergy and members representing the congregations of the Sudbury Clergy Association will gather to remember a pivotal moment in their faith story -- Jesus' supreme sacrifice.  The time will be marked with music, scripture and prayer recognizing God's love for the world.

Rev. Joel Guillemette and Rev. John Nash from Sudbury United Methodist Church and Rev. Bill McIvor from The Presbyterian Church in Sudbury will offer prayers for our community and our world.  A "Solemn Remembrance of the Cross" will help us to remember the many blessings that humanity has received and will urge us to grow closer to God.  Music will be offered by Kevin Murphy, Music Director at Sudbury UMC.

Rev. Tom O'Brien from Memorial Congregational Church, UCC will offer a reflection on Jesus' cry from Mark 15:34 "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"  Rev. O'Brien will show how Jesus' words can be a source of comfort and strength, especially during time of struggle.

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

The Good Friday service offers the community a time of reflection and silence in preparation for the joyous celebration of Easter.  When we choose to gather across denominations, it helps us to remember to place God at the center of our worship.  There will also be a free will offering collected for the MetroWest Free Medical Clinic at Congregation Beth El.
