Guitar Concert with Guy Van Duser

Master finger-style guitarist Guy Van Duser promises to dazzle the audience with his innovative techniques he calls "stride guitar," a fusion of finger-picking with swing, stride, and jazz piano styles. He also plays ragtime, pop, boogie, and traditional folk music. There'll be something for everyone!

Guy Van Duser, an Oberlin College music graduate, has recorded many albums and CDs, both as a soloist, and in collaboration with other artists, including 32 years of playing classical swing jazz with clarinetist Bill Novick. Together, they have been frequent guests on public radio. As a composer, Van Duser has produced sound tracks for films and public TV. Currently, in addition to being a music professor at Berklee College of Music, he is working on an educational video series designed to teach English to children in Japan and other Asian countries.

The concert will take place Oct. 17 at 3 pm in the library's Community Meeting Room. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.
