is pleased to announce a new program for reluctant and emerging readers. Benson, a certified therapy dog, will be visiting the Children’s Room on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 3 p.m. Children must sign up in advance to read to Benson. Each reading visit will be for 15 minutes, just enough time for Benson to enjoy a short story or the beginning chapter of a book. Children will increase their self-confidence and become excited about reading by reading to Benson.
Benson and his owner, Kim O’Konis, are both certified by the Pets and People Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to helping people through pet assisted therapy.
For additional information or to sign-up, email the Children’s Librarian, “Miss Heather,” at hwilkinson@minlib.net or call 978-443-1035.
