This is a homecoming for George. From 1999 to 2003 George was the organist and choir director at Memorial Congregational Church. He worked closely with Marshall Ogletree Associates, the sales representatives for Rodgers and Ruffatti, developing the specifications for the instrument. At the same time the choir loft was remodeled. A new hardwood floor in the choir loft greatly improved the acoustics for both the organ and the choir.
Our instrument is a combination pipe and electronic organ. In 1999 when we were planning the new organ, we wanted a pipe organ. Given the small amount of space available for pipes, the music that could be played on a pure pipe organ would have been too limited for the scope of the music program. The solution was the Rodgers (electronic)/ Ruffatti (pipes) instrument that we now have.

George’s concert will demonstrate the capabilities of the organ featuring music from the 18th century (Bach) the 19th century (César Frank) and the 20thcentury (Herbert Howells).
