Palestinian Israeli Coexistence

On Friday night May 18th at 8:00 pm, Dr. Sheila Katz, Professor of Middle East History at Berklee College of Music, will speak on Palestinian Israeli Coexistence at Congregation Beth El in Sudbury.

In 1975, Dr. Katz moved to Jerusalem and founded Re-evaluation Counseling. This organization developed ways to address racism, anti-Semitism, and other inequalities. Over time this effort expanded to partnering with grassroots organizations working with Palestinians and Israelis in co-counseling workshops where they were given the opportunity to listen to each other and speak of their moving human struggles.

In the decades after her return to the States in 1980, the initiatives she started blossomed into dozens then hundreds of groups with thousands of Palestinians and Israelis continuing to express their courage and humanity despite ever-mounting obstacles. Today these groups span every aspect of life working through the arts, education, environmentalism, science, medicine, business, sports, women's groups, political activism and interfaith dialogue.
