“Refuge Plants for Refuge Wildlife” by Frances Clark – Friends of Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge Monthly Meeting

Friends of Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge present Frances Clark presenting her talk “Refuge Plants for Refuge Wildlife.” Ms. Clark will lead a short walk after the talk to point out some of the plants that she discussed in her talk.

Ms. Clark will demonstrate how plants support our favorite birds, mammals, and even insects in the wetlands, fields, and forests of our watershed. These native plants are not only intriguing and beneficial but also beautiful, enhancing our knowledge and enjoyment of nature throughout the seasons. Ms. Clark will also discuss the role the New England Wildflower Society, the premier plant conservation organization in our area, plays protecting wild flowers throughout the region.

Frances Clark is principal of Carex Associates, which specializes in botanical inventories, natural resource planning, and education. She has conducted several botanical inventories in the Sudbury-Asssabet-Concord (SUASCO) watershed and beyond. She authored the SUASCO Watershed Biodiversity Plan in 2000. Ms. Clark teaches at the New England Wild Flower Society where she is a former Chair of the Board of Trustees. She enjoys leading field trips throughout the area for a variety of organizations.
