The Sudbury Savoyards announce Auditions for 2012 Production of 'Ruddigore'

The Sudbury Savoyards are pleased to announce Auditions for Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore, or The Witch’s Curse. Katherine Engel Meifert, Music Director; Peter A. Stark, Stage Director; Susan A. Elberger, Producer; Dennis O’Brien, Associate Stage Director; Bill Fisher, Associate Producer.

This year’s team brings an ancestral gallery of experience with the Savoyards, both on- and off-stage. Anyone familiar with the work of these diverse artists knows to expect the unexpected and that will be the essential theme unifying Sudbury’s production of Ruddigore 2012.

Auditions for principle roles will take place on Monday, Oct. 24 and Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 pm at the with call backs on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10am – 2 pm.

Chorus members need not audition but must attend either date to register and participate.

Tech Week and performances are currently scheduled for Feb. 18 through March 4 at the Theater.

Anyone preparing to audition should visit www.sudburysavoyards.org for essential information about audition requirements, character sketches, directors’ statements, the rehearsal schedule, and obtaining vocal scores.

The Sudbury Savoyards, known for presenting Gilbert and Sullivan on a grand scale, were founded in 1961 and is sponsored by the Sudbury United Methodist Church.  It is an all-volunteer company with all of its proceeds donated to the Relief of World Hunger.  As of the group’s 50th anniversary year in 2011, the goal of donating $200,000 to this worthy cause was achieved.
