Tracking for Families

This is a great time to get outdoors with the kids and to discover which animals are living in or passing through Garfield Woods in Berlin.  Sudbury Valley Trustees, along with “Hands on Nature (www.handsonnature.org)” founder and director Heather Simpson takes you outside for a “Tracking for Families” program Saturday, March 12, from 9-10:30am.  “Hands on Nature” connects children to the natural world through educational hands-on outdoor activities.

Following an animal’s tracks teaches us a lot about the animals and their behavior over the past few days.  Guided by Ms. Simpson, participants will become nature detectives, looking for animal tracks and identifying which animals were active and what they were up to. Participants will look in the snow for tracks, scat, scratch marks and fur traces from animals such as raccoons, red foxes, coyotes, owls, turkeys, white-tailed deer and weasels. Be sure to dress in warm clothes as we will be outside the whole time.

Come join the fun and be a “nature detective” with Sudbury Valley Trustees. Reservations Required. SVT Members:  Free; Non-members $10 per family.
