L-S Boys Swimmers Too Much for Acton-Boxborough

Efforts by Dylan Brown, Chris Wilkins, Ricky Billig, and Tom Edwards in the final race seal the win for the Warriors.

The Lincoln-Sudbury boys swim and dive team went to Acton-Boxborough last week with their sights set on victory. The boys captured the victory over their longtime rivals with a score of 94-89.  

Ricky Billig, Taylor Brown, Tom Edwards and Andrei Rakitin started off the meet by placing in 2nd place in their 200 medley relay.

After being out touched in the 200 medley relay by .06 seconds the L-S boys rallied back with Dylan Brown and Jake Hogan placing 1st and 3rd in the 200 freestyle.

Chris Wilkins, Taylor Brown, and Nate Thomas finished in 1st, 3rd, and 5th place in the 200 intermediate relay to tie up the score with A-B.

The 50 freestyle was won by L-S with Tom Edwards, Andrei Rakitin, and Chris Knightly placing in 1st, 3rd, and 4th.

Kevin Henderson pulled through big for L-S in the diving event and placed in 2nd while doing so he qualified for sectionals.

In the 100 butterfly Tom Edwards and Ricky Billig placed in 2nd and 3rd.

Dylan Brown, Andrei Rakitn and Chris Knightly finished in 1st, 4th, and 5th place in the 100 freestyle.

Going into the 500 freestyle L-S only held a 1-point lead. The win by Chris Wilkins and Jake Hogan, who finished in 1st and 3rd, helped extend the lead to 3 points.

The 200 freestyle relay was one of the most intense races of the meet with the  team of Andrei Rakitn, Chris Knightly, Dylan Brown, and Chris Wilkins out touching A-B for 1st place by .01 seconds.

In the 100 backstroke Ricky Billig swam into 1st place and Nick Genovese finished shortly behind in 4th place.

Taylor Brown and Kevin Kennedy placed in 1st and 5th in the 100 breaststroke.

Going into the last event of the meet L-S clung onto a 3-point lead. Dylan Brown, Chris Wilkins, Ricky Billig, and Tom Edwards took 1st place in the 400 freestyle relay. The race came down to the final few yards but L-S was able to come from behind and out touch A-B to win the meet.
