L-S Girls Relay Team Finishes 7th in National Meet
Brianna Bisson, Meri Kohler, Madison Acton and Marika Crowe ran the 4x800 in 9:23 at the New Balance Indoor Track Nationals.

This past weekend the Lincoln-Sudbury 4X800 girls relay team traveled to the New Balance Indoor Track Nationals in New York. The team was composed of sophomore Brianna Bisson, junior Meri Kohler, and seniors Madison Acton and Marika Crowe.
The girls earned a spot in the fastest heat at the annual competition, held at “The Armory” in Manhattan, by completing the event in 9 minutes and 23 seconds to win the Massachusetts State Championship.
While she was hoping for a finish in the top six, Crowe summed up her squad’s goals heading into their big weekend race.

“We went down there pretty much for the experience,” the Vanderbilt-bound senior said. “But we also had a bigger goal of getting a team best time as well.”
The meet would bring challenging competition for the Warriors, who went up against top runners from around the country for the 800 relay. But the girls did their best to focus on their personal times, not those of their competitors.

Bisson got the event started at the sound of the gun for Lincoln-Sudbury. After she ran her four laps totaling 800 meters she passed the baton to Meri Kohler. The two seniors, Acton then Crowe, closed it out for the Warriors.
After a grueling race the Warriors finished seventh in the nation with a time of 9 minutes and 17 seconds. Fayetteville-Manlius High School, of Central New York, were the champions in the event. Although it was not the top six they had desired, the girls were still proud of their showing in New York.
“We all ran within half a second of our best times ever,” Crowe said, “Our team time was our best this season so I think we are all very pleased to end the season on a high note. And we can’t wait for spring track.”
For these girls there truly is no offseason. Even after an amazing season capped by a tremendous performance at Nationals, Crowe and company are all looking forward to the next season of track that is right around the corner.
