L-S Girls Swim and Dive Team Finishes Fourth in DCL Meet
Most Warriors record personal best times.
The Lincoln-Sudbury girls swim and dive team finished its league season at the Dual County League championships on Friday. While the meet was won by a very strong and deep Wayland team, the L-S girls proved again that all their hard work has been worth it, with many of the girls swimming personal best times.
The L-S girls came into the meet with the lead thanks to the divers who had DCLs on Wednesday. Kim Yang won with 248.50 points and Emma Jarczyk came in second with 234.15 points. Clara Shealy also scored 185.80 points for seventh place.
The meet started out fast and the team of Catherine MacKeen, Ansley Baker, Alicia Perry and Leah McCabe came in third in the 200 medley relay with the time of 1:54.62. In the 200 free MacKeen dropped seven seconds off her seed time, finishing in 1:59.33 for third place. Captain Kathryn Thomas, Nathalie Cabrera, Ann-Marie Billig and Danielle Gyory also dropped time in this event.

Perry dropped two seconds off her seed time with a 2:18.18 in the 200 IM for fifth place. Caroline Hultin dropped seven seconds for 13th place while Emily Huang and MaryJo Samojla also swam well.
The 50 free was the closest race of the meet with the first three swimmers finishing within 0.13 seconds of each other. Captain Megan Griffin came in third with a time of 24.94. Jenny Genovese, Baker, and McCabe also scored coming in ninth, 14th and 16th, respectfully. Katie Smith, Michelle Iskandar, Shay Darcey, Katie Rosseel, Jodie Shea and Ruiyi Goa also dropped time off of their seed times in this event.

Griffin then dropped two seconds in the 100 fly to win the event with a time of 58.22 and MacKeen dropped a second to come in fourth with a time of 1:00.28. Diver Kim Yang also swam the 100 fly coming in thirteenth place and Olivia Ference dropped two seconds.
In the 100 freestyle Genovese swam a 57.53 for 10th place while McCabe came in 13th. Perry dropped 13 seconds off her seed time in the 500 free for a time of 5:19.31 to come in third. Thomas and Samantha Alarie also swam their personal best times in this event.
Baker, Genovese, McCabe and Griffin came in third in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:43.91. In the 100 backstroke Emily Huang and Iskandar swam 1:12.97 and 1:13.51, respectfully.
There were four freshman in the final heat of the 100 breaststroke including Baker for L-S. This was another very close race and in the end a freshman from Wayland won by 0.05 seconds. Baker finished fifth and dropped two seconds for a personal best of 1:11.50. Hultin did well and came in 13th. Cabrera, Samojla, Gao, Allison Krunnfusz and Maggie Fogarty all swam fast times in the event.
To end the meet the team of Genovese, Perry, Griffin and MacKeen came in third in the 400 free relay.
Even though the L-S girls came in fourth they are really proud of how many girls had their best swims of the season. The postseason continues with Sectionals on Saturday.
