Larceny from Whole Foods, AT&T; Car Vandalism: Newton Police

NEWTON, MA - The following are excerpts from the Newton police log.

Dec. 4

  • Police responded to a report of malicious damage to a MV. Sometime the day before, someone kicked the right front quarter panel and scratched the hood of 2013 Toyota Corolla. It was parked in the side lot next to the pond.
  • Police responded to AT&T Wireless for a report of larceny. An employee explained that a tall, black male, wearing gray sweat pants, a hunter green “hoodie” style jacket and white sneakers came into the store. The subject asked a variety of questions and eventually made his way over to the display in the south east corner of the store. The display held several of the “higher end” phones and tablets. The male stood in front of the display for only a few seconds before ripping two phones from the display and running out of the store. The phones were both tethered to the display with security sensors. The subject ran from the store heading east toward Hammond Street. The model phones stolen are as follows; 1) Samsung Edge Plus Gold 2) Samsung Note 5 Black Both phones were remotely disabled by store manager.
  • Police were dispatched to the address of Whole Foods on Walnut St. for a report of a larceny. An employee stated that they witnessed a male party conceal several items in his coat and headed for the door. When the employee attempted to stop the male party he took off running out of the store. This man, 52, from Lowell, will be charged with larceny.
