LETTER TO THE EDITOR: In Nassa We Trust
Residents Peter and Lydia MacNeil say Scott Nassa's business expertise will benefit the Sudbury Public Schools Committee.

We are writing this letter of endorsement for Scott Nassa for Sudbury Public Schools Committee (SPSC).
Peter and I have lived in Sudbury for 37 years and had 2 children go through the Sudbury Schools. I worked for the Sudbury Schools for 28 years, predominantly at Noyes where I was School Secretary and then the Administrative Secretary. We have seen many changes during our lives here, but most recently many of them have not been positive.
In my secretarial roles at Noyes I formed many treasured and valuable friendships among my colleagues and I have become disheartened to see the rapid decline of the state of Peter Noyes and further, the entire SPS system. Last year I was shocked and heartbroken to see the manner in which the administration, working with the SPSC, destroyed a former colleague’s life’s work and reputation.

I had never met Mr. Nassa personally, but I remember him fondly from several SPSC meetings last spring and summer. Mr. Nassa listened with a compassionate ear, and spoke on behalf of the parents of the students in the affected classroom. Mr. Nassa spoke to a group of elected volunteers who did not listen. The SPSC did not respond to the needs of the parents, teachers, students, or administrators, and that failure to serve the community who elected them has only continued.
Last week the SPSC chair said he did not know how much it costs to educate a student in the system. We cannot ignore that the committee desperately needs someone with a strong business background with new, fresh ideas, to protect our financial investment in our schools. Scott Nassa has the expertise and success in business that is essential at this time. We cannot afford to keep requesting overrides to make ends meet.

The SPSC needs members who are willing to listen and take action. Mr. Nassa has proven he will do both. While I do not know either of the candidates personally, Scott Nassa is better qualified to represent all of us. He has attended many SPSC meetings over the past few years, stated he will represent and work with all of us: students, teachers, parents, taxpayers and administrators. Sudbury needs change and that change is Scott Nassa.
Please join us in voting for Scott Nassa for SPSC March 25, 2013.
