LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Support 3-5, Abair, Nassa, Williamson and Ensley

Resident Bryan Semple explains his views as Annual Town Election approaches.

I am writing to express my support for several candidates and also the change to our town charter.

First, I support the move to five selectmen. Despite another 6 month opportunity to study the issue, those opposed to increasing the board still only offer up the reason that “we need to study it”.  The studies have been done, they just point to the need for five selectmen. Please join me in supporting an increased size in our board.

For the town planning board, please support Peter Abair.  His positions on 40B and his work on the Sudbury Housing Trust are in line with those of us who don’t believe Sudbury should be overrun by 40B developers. As Peter appears to be the outsider candidate, I will vote for Peter alone.

For school committee, both candidates could serve the town well.  However  Scott Nassa  articulated clear and actionable policy positions (http://sudbury.patch.com/articles/you-asked-they-answered-q-a-with-sps-committee-candidates#photo-13633662) on several issues that are critical to SPS. Scott’s positions appear at odds with the current board and those of  Matthew Barach.  Getting a diversity of opinions on all our boards is critical to good governance.  Please support Scott.

For park and rec,  both Dick Williamson and Michael Ensley are great choices mainly due to their odd couple policy positions. Dick is biker,  Michael is a hockey player.  Dick wants to support individual sports like cycling,  Michael wants more support for team sports. Michael is a rail trail abutter, Dick wants to build the rail trail.  Both seem dedicated and passionate about recreation in town and both support greater fiscal transparency for the committee. Please support Dick and Michael.
