Lincoln Sudbury School Committee Fills Vacant Seat

Candace Miller was appointed to fill the vacancy on the LS School Committee.

SUDBURY, MA-The Lincoln Sudbury School Committee filled the vacant position on their committee at Wednesday night's meeting.

Candace Miller was appointed at the meeting with the Chairs of Lincoln and Sudbury Boards of Selectmen, who were apart of the selection process along with the school committee. Miller is an adjunct lecturer at Brandeis University and a Senior International Research at Mathematica Policy Research.

Miller has been living in Sudbury for a year and a half and has two children in the district. MShe told the committee she served on a school committee in Watertown, her previous residence. "I understand how hard and how much work goes into being in the school committee," Miller said at Wednesday night's meeting. "I don't have a strong agenda for anything I want to change, I just want to do some of the work because I know there's a lot that has to get done," she said.

The vacancy was created after member Craig Gruber resigned. The committee received four applications in total from candidates including Cara Endyke-Doran, Sofya Reznik, and Doug Zingale.

School Committee Chair Radha Raman Gargeya said in a statement, "We were privileged to have had conversations with all four candidates. We are hoping that all would find ways to contribute to LS."

Miller officially starts in the position on Jan. 8 and will remain a member until the end of the Annual Town Meetings for Lincoln and Sudbury in May, 2019.

At the Regional District Election in March 2019 a successor will be elected to serve the

balance of the unexpired term, ending in May 2020.
