Lincoln-Sudbury Girls Swim Team Dominates Bedford

Last Friday, the Lincoln-Sudbury girls swim and dive team faced Bedford High School for their second to last dual meet of the season.  The girls ended up winning 99-57 due to a lot of fast swims and some amazing diving scores.

The meet started off great with the team of Katherine O’Shea, Ansley Baker, Catherine MacKeen and Leah McCabe winning the 200 medley relay. Baker then took second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:06.80.  She was quickly followed by MacKeen, Caroline Thomas and Emily Huang for second thru fifth in the event.

Alicia Perry, Caroline Hultin, Lexi Barrera and Eugenia Almandoz nabbed the first four places in the 200 individual medley.  In the 50 free McCabe, Jenny Genovese, Michelle Iskandar and Katie Rosseel finished second thru fifth.  All of them recorded times under 30 seconds.

The divers faced no competition from Bedford.  Even though they were guaranteed a place in the top three, the girls gave one of their best performances of the year.  Kim Yang, Emma Jarczyk and Clara Shealey all earned impressive scores of over 250 points.  Kim Yang beat her own record from last year with a terrific score of 299.30.

In the 100 butterfly the LS girls took the top spots, led by MacKeen and Michela Eckhouse.  Perry, McCabe and Genovese swam to the top three places in the 100 freestyle.

The longest event of the meet was also the closest.  O’Shea faced tough competition in the 500 freestyle.  The race came down to the last 50, with O’Shea missing first by a second.  She still finished with a great time of 5:27.92.  Ann-Marie Billig placed third and Sammi Alarie also did great, finishing with a personal best time.

The team of Genovese, Perry, McCabe and Baker won the 200 freestyle relay.  O’Shea and Caroline Goswami took second and third in the 100 backstroke.  Baker won the 100 breaststroke with Nathalie Cabrera and Shannon Johnson following her for second and third.

The girls closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay by the team of Genovese, Perry, MacKeen and O’Shea.

The girls team looks forward to closing out the regular season with a meet against Wayland, one of their toughest competitors, on Friday.
