Marlborough Man Breaks Into, Damages, Sudbury Church: Police

A man is facing several charges after allegedly breaking into a church, causing damage, and fleeing with money.

SUDBURY, MA — A Marlborough man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a church in Sudbury, causing damage, and making off with some cash.

Sudbury police caught Shad St. Pierre, 39, as he fled from Old Sudbury Road Church on Friday, reports MetroWest Daily News. A caretaker who arrived in the morning saw lights on in the church and a man inside, prompting him to call police.

Three doors had been kicked in and damaged, and $115 was missing from an office lockbox. St. Pierre was heard trying to run when police arrived, and they followed his path, finding a backpack left behind that had burglarious instruments in it, reports MWDN.

St. Pierre, Edorado Drive, Marlborough, was charged with breaking and entering during the night with intent to commit a felony, injuring a church causing more than $5,000 worth of damage, malicious destruction of property worth more than $250, breaking and entering into a depository, attempting to commit a crime (larceny from a building), attempting to commit a crime (larceny of less than $250) and possession of tools often used in burglaries.

St. Pierre, who has an 11-page record, was held on $10,000 bail.
