I was thrilled when I learned that Jean Nam is running for Library Trustee. And I’m equally thrilled to share those reasons with you now. I was fortunate enough to meet Jean several years ago as a volunteer in the library at Peter Noyes Elementary School. Jean is dedicated, creative, energetic, funny, kind, smart and tireless. She has a wonderful way of not just doing a job, but of leaving everything she takes part in just a little bit better.

I’m sure many of you are familiar with her amazing work creating the Book Nook at the Goodnow Library. Her creative vision and initiative there perfectly capture her energy, creativity, and ingenuity. She saw a challenge — a global pandemic — and turned it into an opportunity to create an innovative, user-friendly solution that works for everyone. As a passionate reader and lover of books, nothing makes me happier than a simple, user-friendly new way to put more books in the hands of readers of all ages.

Jean’s passion for books and reading make her a perfect fit for Library Trustee. But Jean also understands that the library is about more than just books. It’s a hub for our community. And that’s where I think she especially shines. Jean’s empathy, her kindness, her ability to see what people really need makes her an ideal fit for Library Trustee. I can’t wait to see what exciting new ways she finds to make the library just a little bit better for all of us.
