N.H. Man Faces 2nd Charge of Violating Restraining Order in Sudbury

The following arrest information was supplied by the Sudbury Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A New Hampshire man who was arrested last week in Sudbury and charged with violating a restraining order faces a second charge of that crime.

According to Sudbury Police Lt. Scott Nix, on March 15, officers were dispatched to Sexton Street just before 6 p.m. for a report of a domestic issue.

"We were contacted by the plaintiff of the restraining order who had observed that her husband posted a picture on their daughter's Facebook page of him holding a firearm," Nix said.

An investigation began as to solidify the authenticity of the photo and her husband's actions.

On March 17, at 3:30 p.m., Craig Smetana, 43, of 132 Old Milford Road in Brookline, N.H., was arrested in Sudbury and charged with violation of an abuse prevention order.

He was held overnight and transported to Framingham District Court on March 18 for his arraignment.

In other police news from March 17:

  • An officer was dispatched to Crystal Lake Drive for a report of numerous dirt bikes in the area. The bikes were gone prior to the officer's arrival. The officer stayed for a short time to ensure the disturbance did not start up again.
  • A person called 911 to report people speeding in the area of Bowker Drive. Responding officers were unable to locate the operators but did witness skid marks in the neighborhood.
