New Partnership with Or Atid, Wayland and Hebrew College a Breakthrough in Children’s Jewish Education

Or Atid’s 2016-17 Children’s Education Program, newly named the Jewish Learning Lab, joins forces with Hebrew College beginning in September. This dynamic partnership is a breakthrough in Jewish education in the Metrowest and greater Boston communities.

Or Atid, celebrating 25 years in Wayland, offers an innovative Jewish learning program for kindergarten through 9th grade, with family education programs for even younger children. Hebrew College has an almost 100 year history educating teens in greater Boston.

Hebrew College, through its youth programs Prozdor and Makor, will provide outstanding faculty and support, working in collaboration with the education staff at the Jewish Learning Lab. Through creativity and fun, combined with school-wide programs, students are motivated to learn, question, and do.

The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning to explore the richness of Jewish traditions and how its lessons and values can be applied to our children’s every-day lives. Whether learning to read and write Hebrew, exploring Jewish history, values, or Israel, the educational experience is marked by creativity, community events, and active participation.

When talking about the Jewish Learning Lab, Rabbi Sally Finestone notes, “This is an in-depth educational experience for your children emphasizing creativity, exploration, and fun. Our new name reflects that serious work occurs in labs, and we take the education of our children seriously; but labs are also about exploration, and the excitement of discovery. ”

“Or Atid’s thoughtful approach to education fits perfectly with Hebrew College,” noted Dan Brosgol, Director of Prozdor. “This is a great partnership. Our program reflects a wide view of Jewish education, providing a solid foundation for lifelong learning. It allows Hebrew College to reach further into communities outside Boston with our exceptional academic programming.”

The Jewish Learning Lab meets on Sundays and Wednesdays, and one Saturday each month (no Sunday class held on that weekend).
