Places to Enjoy a Picnic on April Vacation

Take advantage of the warmer-than-normal temperatures with a relaxing dinner outside.

Haskell Field in Sudbury is a set of fields and playground run by the Sudbury Park and Recreation Department. The complex has six soccer/lacrosse fields, one regulation-size baseball diamond with bleachers, a stretching and workout area, as well as a large toddler playground. The playground is fenced-in, designed for kids ages 3 - 5, and made possible by the Lyons family of Sudbury. Just outside of the playground are public restrooms. Some benches or picnic benches are sprinkled throughout the recreation facility and playground.

Cat Rock in Weston, which includes Cat Rock Hill and 80 Acres, spreads out over 144 acres with several scenic trails. There is a baseball field at the trail head, and parking is available at the end of Drabbington Way. Dog walking is permitted, but dogs must be leashed or under voice command at all times. Professional dog walkers with more than three dogs must have all pets leashed at all times.

Cochituate State Park is a large park located on Commonwealth Road in Wayland. The park — which sits on three lakes — offers a number of water-based recreational activities, including fishing and swimming. A boat launch area is located just over the town line in Natick where there are elongated parking spaces for cars towing boats. Jet skis are not permitted in the water.
