More On The Candidate

Simon, who serves as a Lincoln-Sudbury School Committee Chair, secured the Democratic nomination after running unopposed in the Sept. 1 State Primary. He will also run unopposed in the general election.

He launched his campaign in February after Gentile announced he would not seek re-election. Patch also previously reported that Simon was endorsed by Gov. Maura Healey and U.S. Sen. Ed Markey.

Simon, 29, grew up in Sudbury and graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 2015 before earning a degree from Brandeis University in 2019, where he studied politics, history and philosophy. Before launching his campaign, he spent five years working as an aide to Gentile at the State House, where he helped draft legislation, secure funding for local projects and assist constituents. Simon has also served on the Lincoln-Sudbury School Committee since 2023, including as chair for the past two years.

Simon told Patch that the rising cost of living is the most pressing issue facing residents of the district. His priorities include increasing state funding for public schools, expanding access to affordable housing, working toward universal child care and tuition-free public higher education.

Simon also said he hopes to address climate change, protect reproductive rights and improve access to health care. He emphasized the importance of providing enough state aid to municipalities to help reduce the need for property tax overrides.
