SPS Announces Next Loring Principal

(EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was submitted by Superintendent Anne Wilson.)

I am very pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Wiltshire will be the next principal of the Loring Elementary School, effective August 2013.

Currently in his second year as assistant principal at Loring, Stephen has been an exceptional educational leader at Loring and in the district as well.  Prior to his time at Loring, Stephen taught for nine years in Framingham and Springfield, Massachusetts.  During his time in Framingham, he served for four years on the district Leadership and Data Analysis Team.  Stephen holds a Master of Education degree from Western New England College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Springfield College.

I wish to thank the Loring Principal Interview Team for their time and thoughtful feedback during the interview process. Interview Team members cited Stephen’s care of children, his demonstrated dedication to Loring, his responsiveness and follow through in working with staff and parents, his thoughtful and helpful feedback to teachers, his calm yet firm demeanor when dealing with difficult situations, and his deep understanding and knowledge of curriculum, special education, and child development as some of the reasons for their overwhelming support of his candidacy.
