Stanley Robert Colantuono, WWII Vet, Dies at 87
The Sudbury and Newton native was a WWII naval veteran.

Stanley Robert “Bob” Colantuono of Mashpee, formerly of Sudbury and Newton, was born September 29, 1927 to the late Stanley and Mildred (Vassalotti) Colantuono and died February 5, 2015. He was predeceased in 2010 by his beloved wife Regina (DiPirro) whom he was married to for 60 years. Bob, a WWII Naval veteran, served on the USS YMS 425 and was active for many years with the Naval Mine Warfare Association. After the war he graduated from Springfield College and began teaching. He and Regina moved to Sudbury in 1955 to raise their family, where he was active in coaching youth sports and was one of the founding members of the Sudbury Little League. He then went into the construction field and worked for Riverside Sand and Gravel of Auburndale, MA, before starting Twinbrook Concrete in Waltham, MA with his cousins. He later started a business college called Andover Institute of Business in Worcester, MA before returning to the construction business as a manager of Mar-Vi Concrete Construction in Watertown, MA. He finished his career as an inspector for the Mass. Turnpike Authority in 1992. He then enjoyed spending time with his family for 22 years of retirement at Popponessett Beach in Mashpee.
Bob’s legacy is not found in the work he did, but the family he loved. His entire family had the great fortune to be raised surrounded by his love, generosity, support, caring, stability, strength, conviction, and commitment, and he will be greatly missed. Bob is survived by his seven children: Susan Colantuono of Rhode Island; Thomas Colantuono of New Hampshire; Nancy Curran (Don Bartolone) of Cotuit and Key West FL; Janet Colantuono of Sudbury; Lynn Colantuono of Framingham; Ann Colantuono (Alan Phillips) of Mashpee; and David Colantuono (Jennifer Hardigan) of Marstons Mills; eight grandchildren: Sarah Curran (Dale Morgan) and Christine Curran, Justin Bouchard (Angelina Hubbling), Samantha Taraskiewicz (Jason Taraskiewicz) and Catherine Furbush, Marianna Colantuono, Hannah Colantuono and Molly Colantuono; and two great-grandchildren: Luke Morgan and Evelyn Taraskiewicz.
