Sudbury 2023 Election Begins: Candidates Can Pull Papers Now

SUDBURY, MA — The 2023 Sudbury election is officially underway.

The filing period for candidates to run in the March 27 election began Thursday, with filing papers now available at town hall, according to Town Clerk Beth Klein. New candidates and incumbents have until Feb. 1 to pull papers.

Here are the seats up for election in 2023. The candidates named in each race may not necessarily run again this year.

Select Board

  • Seat held by Select Board Chair Charlie Russo* (3-year term)

Board of Assessors

  • Seat held by Chair Liam Vesely (3-year term)

Goodnow Library Trustees

  • Ingrid Mayyasi (3-year term)
  • Barbara Pryor (3-year term)

Board of Health

  • Susan Sama (3-year term)

Park and Recreation Commission

  • Benjamin Carmel (3-year term)

Planning Board

  • John Hincks (3-year term)

Sudbury Housing Authority

  • Janet Cowan (5-year term)

Sudbury School Committee

  • Nicole Burnard (1-year term)
  • Mandy Sim (3-year term)
  • Sarah Troiano (3-year term)

Note: Burnard was appointed to complete the term of Tyler Steffey, who resigned in 2022. Although Steffey's seat is a 3-year term, the person elected in March will only serve one year, which is the remainder of Steffey's initial term. The seat will be up for election in 2024 as a 3-year term.

Lincoln Sudbury Regional District School Committee

  • Harold Engstrom, Lincoln (3-year term)
  • Candace Miller, Sudbury (3-year term)

*Russo has said he will seek reelection in 2023.
