Sudbury Athlete Helps Lead RPI's Lacrosse Team to Fast Start

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute jumped quickly in the lead this season, with help from a Sudbury athlete.

SUDBURY, MA — Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's lacrosse team has leapt to a fast start for the 2016 season, and a Sudbury athlete has helped the team get there.

Matthew Hall is a member of the Engineers, coached by Jim Townsend, which are riding a three-game winning streak. Their only losses came to a pair of nationally-ranked teams in the nation. RPI has scored 74 goals, while allowing 52.

Hall, an attacker, is a junior at RPI and graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.

"Matt is one of our better players," said Kevin Beattie, associate athletic director. "He plays extensively and is counted on to help the team score, either by putting the ball in the net himself or setting up others to do so."

Rensselaer played its last three games on the road, and is back on the bus for a game at SUNY Plattsburgh on Wednesday. The Engineers, who are 1-1 in the Liberty League, host conference foe Vassar College on Saturday.
