Sudbury Board 'Confirms Its Opposition to the Overhead Power Lines'

The Sudbury Board of Selectmen is working toward alternate solutions to the Eversource proposal to put transmission lines through town.

SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury's Board of Selectmen are continuing to work toward a solution to Eversource's plan to run transmission lines through town. Confirming its opposition, the board reminded residents of its position with a message on the town's website, vowing to "pursue every avenue to achieve this objective, including retaining legal counsel."

Selectmen met with Attorney George Pucci of Kopelman and Paige, who has successfully litigated cases against NStar and T-Mobile.

"The Town will be prepared to appear as an Intervenor, with the appropriate and necessary experts, to represent the Town’s interests when Eversource’s application comes before the Energy Utilities Siting Board," wrote the board. "Sudbury believes any outcome should protect the environment, avoid visual pollution, and minimize all adverse impacts. Sudbury also believes it is in the interest of all parties, including Eversource, to achieve a solution using information provided by experts."
