Sudbury FD Rescues Skier Who Fell Through Ice
A cross-country skier fell through the ice on Willis Lake Tuesday afternoon.

SUDBURY, MA- The Sudbury Fire Department rescued a man who fell through the ice on Willis Lake Tuesday afternoon.
At 3:36 p.m., Sudbury Public Safety Dispatch got a call from a man who said he had fallen through the ice and was hanging onto bushes to keep himself above the water.
Three Sudbury firefighters, wearing ice rescue suits and using an ice rescue sled, were able to bring the man to safety.

The man was taken to Emerson Hospital for evaluation.
“This is a great example of our firefighters putting their extensive training to use to help someone in need,” Chief Whalen said.

The Wayland Fire Department provided an ambulance during the incident.
