Sudbury Historic Districts Commission Approves Three New Requests
Applicants and commission successfully work together to maintain Colonial look of historic areas.

The Sudbury Historic Districts Commission met Thursday night at the Flynn Building with applicants who intended to alter and add to their properties.
Members and applicants worked together to come to a consensus in all cases, and the Commission approved all requested projects.
Residents Robert and Pam Baldi, of 53 Robert Best Road, are replacing several windows, which have leaks and have begun to rot in their home. The style of windows will remain the same, and "we would like to duplicate what is there right now" with the most weather and fuel efficient option, Robert Baldi said. The final selection, as suggested by Commission member Frank Riepe, are from the Marvin Tilt-Pac Series. The windows have insulated glass and aluminum, simulated white wood trim.

Next the Commission approved the application by contractor Renato Goncalves of Masstone Landscape Contractors, Inc. and a Sudbury home owner of 62 Old Garrisson Road for the construction of four pillars with bluestone caps and a trailing stone wall leading up the driveway. The wall will be constructed of rounded, natural, field stone, with no mortar, dry joints, and atop the pillars will be small, square lanterns in the colonial style.
Rachel St. Germain of ViewPoint Sign & Awning and Michael Egan of Financial Partners, a new insurance company coming to Sudbury, met with the Commission for the approval of new signs. Financial Partners will take the place of Pendleton's at 383 Boston Post Road in the Mill Village. Applicants received approval for two signs — one on the side of the building rather than on the arch — as the Pendleton's had, and a small sign on the front wall of the entrance. The signs will be wood-carved and blue with white letters.
