Sudbury, Lincoln-Sudbury Cancel School As Messy Storm Approaches

Districts from Worcester to Boston have called off school on Friday due to the potentially messy weather.

SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury Public Schools and Lincoln-Sudbury High School students will get a long weekend.

The school district canceled school on Thursday ahead of a Friday winter storm that could drop several inches of snow and create icy conditions throughout the day.

A wintry mix was expected to begin during the overnight hours, according to the National Weather Service. Sudbury will be under a winter weather advisory until about 7 p.m. on Friday with an inch or more of snow and a 1/4-inch of ice possible.

"Rain to change to a wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet Friday affecting both commutes," the weather service said in a bulletin. "Falling temps will rapidly freeze water/slush. Road pre-treatment is made more difficult in rainy weather."
