Sudbury Marks Mental Health Awareness Month With Event Lineup

The town is recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month with three community events.

SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury is marking Mental Health Awareness Month with three community events focused on relaxation, connection and education.

The events, hosted in part by the Sudbury Board of Health, will take place throughout May to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, reduce stigma, educate the public, and provide support for people living with mental health conditions.

The first event is an Adult Mental Health First Aid Training on May 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fairbank Community Center, located at 40 Fairbank Road.The evidence-based course is designed for anyone interested in learning how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, offer initial support, and guide individuals toward appropriate care.

Registration is required for the MHFA training, as space is limited to 30 participants. Lunch will be provided. Interested participants can register here.

Residents are also invited to unwind with therapy animals by Pets & People, a collaboration between the Sudbury Board of Health and the Sudbury Senior Center. The event will feature therapy dogs from the Pets & People Foundation and runs Monday, May 11, from 1 to 2 p.m. Community members can drop in for a short break and stress relief.

A Self-Care Sound Bath will be held on May 14 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room at Goodnow Library. The free session is open only to Sudbury residents. Yoga mats will be provided, and attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or pillow for added comfort. Those interested can sign up for the event here.
