Sudbury Sets Date For Fairbank Community Center Construction Start
When construction starts in June, residents may experience changes while visiting the community and senior center.

SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury expects to begin construction on an almost entirely new Fairbank Community Center and senior center this month, which will mean some detours and changes for residents using the facility.
According to the town, construction should begin on about June 20. On that day, construction crews will close down the main parking lot closest to Hudson Road. Visitors will use Haskell Field across the street instead.
The Atkinson pool will be open until mid-August, when it will shut down for about a month. When it reopens, the public will enter and exit from the rear of the pool.

The first phase of construction will last until fall 2023. After that, crews will demolish portions of the center, including the senior center building. The project should be totally complete by spring 2024.
The pool will be the sole remaining piece of the old center. During construction, the town will build a new gym in front of the pool and a new senior center where the main parking lot is located. There will be multipurpose rooms and other facilities in between.
