Sudbury Shelter Looks to Raise Funds to Expand, Purchase Property

Save-a-Dog in Sudbury has a prime opportunity, but needs the public's help.

Save a Dog has the option to purchase the property where its shelter is located in Sudbury and where it has been renting for the past seven years. As posted recently on the shelter’s Facebook page, “this is a huge opportunity, not only to stay in the place we call home, but it also brings the potential for eventual expansion to save more dogs.”

The shelter’s elderly landlord recently passed away, and the property will go through probate while it is listed, giving Save a Dog the final option to purchase the property.

“.....but we need to raise the funds quickly,” the group posted. “While probate can often drag things out, we need to be ready! Please help us to keep the property that we have customized for our humane society. We provide several important community services that would suffer if we lose our current location. Our teen volunteer program allows high school students to receive community service credits while volunteering at the shelter. Our meals-on-wheels program helps both dogs and cats to stay in their homes regardless of an owner’s financial constraints.”
