A Word from Pastor Leigh…

When was the last time you purchased a new piece of furniture? Maybe a chair that caught your eye. Chances are pretty good that the first place that you put it in your home was not the spot that if finally occupied. You might have moved it to another corner, pushed it back, pushed it forward, or decided it was in the wrong room altogether. It takes time to get used to a new piece of furniture.
That is what it is like with the new organ that has arrived in the Chapel. It has landed a certain way, but, with Joe’s help and some assistance from Andover Organ Company, it will be arranged in a way that will make it look like it fits with the décor a bit better. However, that will take a little time, and a good eye.
The organ is an excellent instrument for which we paid $1. We used money from two benevolences specifically earmarked for an organ in the chapel. SUMC was planning to procure an organ for Davison Chapel long before I arrived as your pastor. We were fortunate to acquire such a sweet-sounding instrument, and it will make a lovely addition to the Chapel once it finally settles into its new home. An organ will make the Chapel an ideal place for small weddings, funerals, and lots of other services.
So please join us in being patient as we determine how best to make our new organ an attractive addition to Davison Chapel. The organ, just like all of us, is a work in progress.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and thoughtfulness.
Pastor Leigh

Christian Education News

Kidbury UMC Kidbury UMC is open before and after worship! The theme for the month of May is “One Small Step.” It’s all about trusting the Holy Spirit and how small steps lead to big growth in faith. As always, the Kidbury Library, games station, and Tent of Meeting (prayer station) will be available for children to visit any time.
Kidbury is for all ages (there’s even a toddler section!) and opens at 9:00am each Sunday. Feel free to come by any time before 9:45 or after worship during Coffee Hour. We will take a break for the summer beginning Sunday, June 16th.
Adult Formation Classes
There are two adult education opportunities every Sunday. Both adult classes are 9:15-9:45 am.
Exploring Topics in Christianity meets in Davison Chapel. The topics planned for the remainder of this program year are as follows:

We will give all the items to Savers on Saturday, June 8.
Summer Events

It is from 10:00 am-2:00 pm daily, and each day involves a different local outreach opportunity. Youth Mission Week is in its fourth year, it’s going strong, and it is for anyone who has completed grades 6-12.
If you have any questions about anything pertaining to youth ministry at SUMC or if you are a youth/parent who would like to receive weekly updates, contact Zack (zack@sudbury-umc.org).
Keep the Faith.

Join Our Liturgist Team

Reading scripture at our worship service is one of the many rewarding ways to be involved with SUMC. Liturgists help lead the congregation in prayer, read Scripture, and assist with the distribution of the bread and cup during Holy Communion. Those who enjoy public speaking, and especially reading the gospels, are welcome to join our team of Liturgists. All readings and prayers are supplied to the liturgist making it easy for you to prepare. Your commitment would be only 4-5 Sundays within the year. If you are interested, please reach out to Libby Dilling, libby@dilling.org.

Porch Party Follows Worship!

Coffee and conversation follow outside on the porch after worship for the next several weeks! Enjoy the sunshine while sipping coffee and the warmth of fellowship. We hope to have outdoor coffee hour for the next several weeks while the weather is seasonable.
If you can help with the set-up or clean-up in the next few weeks, please speak to Kristin Murphy. Thanks.
