Sudbury Voters OK Money for New Police Headquarters

Sudbury approved a measure during the special town election.

Held in conjunction with the state primary Tuesday night, Sudbury voters were given the chance to approve, or not, the funding of a new police department headquarters.

The ballot question: “Shall the Town of Sudbury be allowed to exempt from the provisions of proposition two and one-half, so-called, the amounts required to pay for the bond issued in order to provide additional funding to construct a new Police Department Headquarters and appurtenant structures on Town-owned land adjacent to the existing Fire Headquarters including borrowing costs and expenses?”

There were 2,529 votes cast, representing 21 percent of the town’s 11,951 registered voters.
