Sudbury Voters Say 'Yes' To Overrides for Schools, 'No' to Fields, Rail Trail Improvements

Voters narrowly approved property and real estate tax increases to pay for school improvements.

Sudbury voters turned out (though in low numbers) for a special town election on Tuesday to cast votes on five ballot questions involving Prop 2 1/2 overrides to raise money to pay for school and municipal improvements.

Two ballot questions were approved, and three were struck down.

According to unofficial results, Question 1, which would allow the town to assess an additional $200,000 in real estate and property taxes to reconstruct or make repairs to Sudbury’s school and town driveways, passed 684 to 547.

Ballot Question 2, which would assess $220,00 in real estate and personal property taxes for making repairs to Sudbury schools for building safety and security, passed 657 to 570.

Question 3 was shot down 918 to 292. It would have assessed $300,000 for updates to the Cutting recreation field. Both 4 and 5 also lost by wide margins, and would have used money to build rail trails.
