Twenty-five Sudbury residents were recently honored as Pacesetters for the 2011 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai. The Pacesetters collectively raised more than $106,000 of the nearly $7 million in the 2011 Jimmy Fund Walk, which benefits adult and pediatric cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Pacesetters are dedicated walkers who are committed to raising at least $1,250 for Dana-Farber. In 2011, nearly 1,300 of the 8,500 walkers achieved Pacesetter status. On March 25, the 2011 Pacesetters were recognized at the Jimmy Fund Walk’s Extra Mile Brunch at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.

Pacesetters are the fundraising “stars” of the event. To achieve Star Pacesetter recognition, walkers must raise $1,250; Two-Star Pacesetters raise $2,500; Three-Star Pacesetters raise $5,000 and walkers who raise $10,000 achieve Four-Star Pacesetter status. Young Pacesetters are children age 12 and younger who raise at least $500.
“The commitment of our walkers, especially at the Pacesetter level, is crucial to the Jimmy Fund Walk’s fundraising efforts,” said Ann Beach, director of the Jimmy Fund Walk.
